Jean-Louis Davain joined the law firm Wantiez, Bailleux, Causin & Janssen in June 2015. Previously, he headed the department ‘Compensation & Benefits / Expatriates’ within an international audit firm, then the advisory services in human resources taxation within some law firms.

His practice covers all legal and tax aspects, in Belgium and internationally, relating to compensation structuring and the management of human resources. It encompasses advisory activities as well as compliance and processing, i.e. salary calculations, preparation of tax returns and the various proceedings before the tax and social administrations. In fact, his practice joins the legal counselling activity traditionally devoted to lawyers with the handling of figures assumed by human resources and payroll managers.

Jean-Louis Davain is professor at the Free University of Brussels where he teaches personal income tax law and taxation of insurances and pension funds in the Master in tax law. He participates frequently as speaker in seminars relating to the taxation of individuals and is the author of numerous articles and books on that subject. He is also member of the editors’ committee of the monthly publication Expat News published by Wolters Kluwer.
Jean-Louis Davain speaks French, English and Dutch.
